OVERVIEW
Courses at AMO provide you with a wide range of learning experiences to choose from –– whether you have never ridden before or are a seasoned rider ready for the pre-track experience. So take a ride through our pages and see why we say, “Today’s Training for Tomorrow’s Ride.”
CMSP MTC (Motorcyclist Training Course)
The California Motorcyclist Safety Program Motorcyclist Training Course (CMSP MTC) is designed for the novice rider with no (or limited) street-riding experience. This course includes both classroom and on-cycle instruction. You will learn fundamental skills required to operate the motorcycle and progress to street riding skills and strategies. The course is based on the most current research in rider safety and utilizes modern training methods. Skilled riders will also learn more than they thought they could learn from this very thorough course. Successful completion will provide a DL 389 Form (Certificate of Completion of Motorcycle Training). The DL 389 waives the motorcycle skills test at the DMV and must be submitted to the DMV within 12 months of the date of issuance to avoid its expiration (Click this link for other DMV motorcycle requirements that must be met).
AMO MORE RIDING
AMO offers riders a way to build more confidence with more practice before heading out on the LA streets and freeways.
More Riding is four hours of riding challenging exercises using your bike or one of our training bikes and is without any classroom elements. We provide full-faced helmet and gloves as needed. It is also a great course for returning riders who need to get reacquainted with motorcycling. No DL 389 is issued for this course.
Intermediate Riding Clinic
The IRC is your next step to improve your skills on your own bike. This one-day course includes both riding theory and concepts with lots of relevant on-your bike practice. Other riders have reported that the IRC significantly improved their riding skills, confidence and ability to make better choices about when and how to ride. No DL 389 is issued for this course.
